When purchasing nucs or packages please keep the following in mind:

  • There are many sources for nucs and packages. Below are sellers that we have used in the past. Please find information you will want to keep in mind when sourcing your bees.
  • Bees for sale should be inspected by the regional  bee inspector, and the seller should be able to produce the release form from the inspector.
  • A nuc of bees should have minimum two frames of brood in all stages, two frames of food and a laying queen.
  • Imported packages are inspected at the airport, and you may assume that they meet CFIA disease and pest regulations at the time of inspection.
  • Even with a release for sale from our knowledgeable and experienced inspectors it is not an absolutely guarantee that the packages or nucs are entirely free of diseases and pests.
